Burgener strength - mobility for weightlifting CLINIC

 

Mobility, Speed, Strength. Three attributes required to be a proficient Olympic Weightlifter.

At this 1 day course, we will dedicate time to develop the ACTIVE MOTOR CONTROL (aka mobility) to improve our participants’ ability to achieve the optimal positions in the squat, front rack, overhead, and split positions. These positions are necessary to be successful in the snatch, clean, and jerk.

We believe that “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.” To develop speed, we must first master the movement patterns slowly and with control. Through patience and meticulous drilling, participants will gain greater awareness of their body positioning and develop more efficient movement patterns.

Strength is the productive application of force. Participants will learn how to bridge the gap between position and tension. By reinforcing movement coupled with appropriate muscle activation and tension, participants will develop a greater capacity to move and stabilize heavier loads.

TIMELINE (9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.):

9:00 -10:00: Introductions and Mobility Theory

10:00 - 10:30: Midline Stabilization - Because you’re probably only using HALF of your “core”.

10:30 - 11:30: Building a rock solid squat - Because if your squat is lacking, everything else is lacking.

11:30 - 12:00: Footwork drills for speed and stability - Because 90% of missed lifts are attributed to the feet.

12:00 -13:00: Lunch

13:00 - 14:00: The front rack and overhead position - Because you can’t lift it if you can’t support it.

14:00 - 14:30: The split jerk - Because big weight needs a strong base of support.

14:30 - 1530: The Burgener Warmup and Skill Transfer Exercises Revisited ... Because every millimeter of improvement matters

15:30- 16:00: Review and Questions


PREREQUISITES

None! All levels are welcome. We truly believe that advanced and/or beginner lifters can benefit from learning and relearning different teaching methods of the sport!

LANGUAGE

The default language for the Mobility Seminar is English. In countries where there is a language barrier, a translator will be provided for real time translation in the lecture and small-group practical sessions.
